Toddle supports integrations with external learning tools, providing students and teachers with seamless access to the resources they regularly utilize. In this article, we will explore how Toddle integrates with Edpuzzle.
This article will cover how to:
Set up Edpuzzle in Toddle
As an admin, you can add tools from Toddle’s pre-configured catalog that support the LTI 1.1 or 1.3 standards.
To begin:
1. Navigate to Admin portal→School setup→LTI apps
2. Click the ‘+Add’ button.
3. Select ‘Add from catalog’.
Tip: For partner tools like Edpuzzle, always use the catalog option. The custom app setup is only meant for tools not listed in Toddle’s catalog. To learn how to set up a custom tool, refer to this article.
4. Select Edpuzzle from the the catalog..
5. Select the curriculum(s) where you want this tool.
6. Choose the version from the dropdown. Click ‘Save and next’.
7. Enter the required credentials (client key, shared secret) provided by Edpuzzle.
8. Toggle ‘Allow grade passback’ to enable scores from the LTI tool (e.g. quiz results) to flow back into Toddle’s gradebook.
9. Use the checkbox to enable the tool for teachers. Click ‘Save’ to complete the setup.
The integration will appear as a card showing the tool name, configured curriculums, LTI version, and its status (enabled or disabled for the teachers). From this card, you can view details of the integration, edit the settings, or delete the tool if required.
Note: If teachers have already started using the tool, you can still edit its settings. However, deleting the tool will immediately remove access for all teachers and students.
Use Edpuzzle in the classroom
As an educator, you can incorporate integrated Edpuzzle into your classroom by adding it to the submission template when creating class assignments. Here's how you can do it:
Click on ‘Add an external tool’ within the submission template.
Select Edpuzzle.
Note: You might need to sign up or log in, depending on the tool you are using.
When you select ‘Edpuzzle’ as a submission template, it opens directly within Toddle, allowing you to embed interactive video lessons into your assignments.
On the Edpuzzle interface within Toddle, you can access your existing classes and previously added video content from the left pane. Simply select the video you want to include in your assignment.
Note: The way it opens depends on the tool itself; some tools open inside Toddle (embedded in an iframe), while others open in a new tab.
Once you select the video, configure the assignment settings as follows:
Set the number of attempts allowed for students.
Enable or disable options such as prevent skipping, speed up videos, or closed captions.
Click ‘Assign’ to add it to your task.
After the video is added as a submission template, you can:
Rename or remove the video using the three-dot menu.
Click ‘Assign’ when ready to finalize the task.
Note: Scores from Edpuzzle will flow into Toddle’s gradebook only if the ‘Allow grade passback’ setting is enabled during setup in Toddle. The scores will automatically scale according to the maximum score set for the assignment in Toddle.
View at the students’ end
Students will be able to see the Edpuzzle attachment in their assigned task. In the ‘Your response’ section, they can click on the ‘Add’ button to begin interacting with the content.
Once the student starts, they can:
Watch the video and respond to the embedded quizzes.
Use available options such as rewatching, skipping, or continuing (as configured by you).
Upon completion, students can:
View their scores and the number of correct responses.
Click ‘Mark as done’ to submit their work on Toddle.
After submission, you can check out the responses given by the student as well as the marks scored from the ‘All submissions’ tab.
When reviewing the student’s submission, you can:
Download/export grades in a spreadsheet to track student progress.
Delete the added video assignment if no longer needed.
Reset student progress or ask students to retry assignments. Note that students will not be able to resubmit on external tools/LTI apps unless you configure it within the tool itself.
Edit assigned videos to update content or questions.
View as a student to preview assignments from a student’s perspective.
Once done, you can assess performance and mark the submission as evaluated.
Note: Responses linked to external tools cannot be added as portfolio posts or downloaded.
