Reflection questions for MYP Service as Action (SAA) can now be mapped to grades instead of year groups, providing schools more flexibility and control. With this update, each activity created for a specific grade retains its own set of reflection questions. This ensures that when students move up a grade, their earlier responses remain intact and are not impacted by the new grade’s reflection questions.
Set up SAA reflection questions
To configure reflection questions, navigate to:
Admin portal → Programme level configurations (MYP) → Module settings → Projects → Service activity reflection questions
On this page, you will find a set of reflection questions configured for your school, mapped to all the MYP grades for which SAA is enabled. You can filter the view by their status - ‘Active’ or ‘Archived’.
Any edits made to reflection questions are academic year–specific. This ensures that previous years’ data remains intact and older question responses are not affected by new changes.
To modify the questions, click the ‘Edit’ button.
Here’s what you can do:
Add new questions by clicking on the ‘Add question’ button at the bottom. Edit an existing question by selecting its text box and making necessary changes.
Use the grade-level checkboxes to decide where a question should appear.
Each question can be mapped to one or more MYP grades. Students will only see the questions mapped to their grade when their SAA activities are created.
If a grade-level mapping is removed mid-year, the question will no longer appear in activities created in the future. It will continue to exist in the ones that are already created before unmapping.
If the mapping is restored later, the question reappears in the activities as before.
Use the drag-and-drop arrows to reorder the questions as needed.
Under the ‘Actions’ menu for each question, you can:
Archive:
If a question is archived, it will no longer appear in newly created activities.
However, any activities created before archiving will continue to show the question along with student responses. These responses remain unaffected.
Archived questions do not roll over to the next academic year.
Delete:
You cannot delete reflection questions that have student responses added against them. Once deleted, questions cannot be restored.
Once done, click ‘Save’ to apply the changes.
SAA activity view
Once students begin creating SAA activities, the mapped questions appear under the ‘Reflection’ section of their activity.
They can then type in their responses directly, ensuring reflections align with the grade-specific framework set by the administrator.
