We have introduced several updates to make it easier for you to review and manage assignments. With a cleaner interface, and quick action options, you can focus on reviewing student work without unnecessary clutter.
This article will cover:
Improvements in the Assignment widget
The new ‘All’ tab
The Assignment widget on your homepage now includes an ‘All’ tab, giving you a consolidated space to track assignments across all your classes within the selected curriculum.
Only published assignments that are in the To review or Reviewed stage appear in this tab.
Drafts and scheduled assignments are excluded to keep the view focused.
Updated ‘To review’ tab
In the ‘To-review’ tab, you will now see only assignments with new submissions. Newly created assignments will appear under the ‘All’ tab instead, reducing clutter and keeping the ‘To-review’ tab more focused. Additionally, a Move to reviewed icon appears when you hover over a task card. This allows you to quickly move the assignment from the ‘To-review’ tab to the ‘Reviewed’ tab.
Once you move an assignment, a confirmation briefly appears at the bottom of your screen with an Undo option to reverse the action.
UI improvements
Several updates have been made to simplify how assignments appear and how you interact with them:
Cleaner assignment cards
Instead of assignment type labels, you now see the class name paired with a due date (if not passed) or close date( if the due date is passed) or simply no date if none has been defined. Below, you will see the submission, evaluation and share status.
‘Unread’ tab improvements
The ‘Unread’ tab now displays clearer time stamps for messages and updates:
For recent activity, you will see how long ago it happened (e.g., “1m ago”).
If the update is older than a day, the exact date will be shown instead.
Enhanced filter
The Added by filter now lets you select one or multiple staff members instead of just ‘All’ or ‘Me.’
Improvements in the Assignments page
The following updates are available in both the Assignments page (within a class) and the Assignments manager:
Renamed ‘All’ tab
The All Posts tab has now been renamed to ‘All’ and moved to the top for easier access. This tab gives you a consolidated view of all published assignments within your class.
Here’s how it works:
It includes only assignments that are in To review or Reviewed.
Drafts and scheduled assignments are excluded.
Note: In the Assignments manager, the All tab shows assignments across all classes, while in the Assignments page, you will only see assignments for that particular class.
Updates to ‘To-review’ and ‘Reviewed’ tabs
In the To-review tab, you’ll now see only assignments with new submissions. Newly created assignments will appear under the All tab instead, reducing clutter and keeping the ‘To-review’ tab more focused.
You can now manage assignments between To review and Reviewed more quickly with new icons on each task card, allowing you to switch the status with a single click.
In the To review tab, you will see a ‘Move to reviewed’ icon on the right side of each card. Use this when you are done checking submissions.
In the Reviewed tab, you will see a ‘Move to To-review’ icon, allowing you to bring the assignment back if you want to recheck student work or address new submissions.
Updated filter
The ‘Added by’ filter now lets you select one or multiple staff members instead of just ‘All’ or ‘Me.’
Updated assignment movement logic
When you publish an assignment with submissions enabled, it follows a clear path through the tabs so you always know where to find it:
Right after publishing, the assignment appears in the All tab. Since there are no student submissions yet, it will not show up in the To-review tab.
As soon as a student submits work, the assignment stays in the All tab and also appears in the To-review tab.
Once you are done checking submissions, use the ‘Move to reviewed’ option to send the assignment to the Reviewed tab.
Note: Moving to the Reviewed tab is always a manual action, giving you control over when a task is considered complete.
If additional students turn in work after you’ve marked it as reviewed, the assignment automatically comes back to the To-review tab.
That’s all for now. We will continue to innovate and improve to make your Toddle experience better each day!
