We’re excited to introduce Gradebook on the Toddle mobile app for students and families. It offers a centralized place to view student academic progress across all subjects and grading periods, providing valuable insights into their academic journey. Read this article to learn more!
In this article, we have shown the Gradebook at the families’ end but the view is similar for students as well.
Gradebook on the app
Students and family members can now access the Gradebook module on their mobile apps directly from the ‘Gradebook’ card on their homepage.
At the bottom of the Gradebook landing page, students and family members will have access to the following tabs:
💡 Please note that the available tabs will vary depending on the curriculum the student is enrolled in.
Final grades: View final scores, final grades and local grades for all subjects within each grading period.
Assessments: View all tasks for each grading period within the selected subject, along with teacher evaluations and task details.
IB Grades: A graphical overview of student IB grades across various assessments, including calculated averages (for IB DP students).
MYP Criteria: A graphical representation of student performance based on the 4 IB MYP Criteria for a specific subject (for IB MYP students).
ATL Skills: View ratings for each ATL skill, with detailed descriptions and evaluation history.
More: Access student progress on key learning goals, like Assessment objectives, Subject standards, and more.
Let’s take a closer look at each tab:
Final grades: This tab provides an overview of the Final score, Final grade, and Local grade for all subjects the student is enrolled in for the selected grading period. Students and families can switch between grading periods or use the filter option to view final grades from other academic years.
💡 Please note that this tab will only be available when the respective setting is enabled by the admin.
Assessments tab: This view lists all assessments for each grading period within the selected subject. Students and family members can toggle between grading periods, such as Term 1 or Term 2, to review teacher evaluations for each assessment. By clicking on any task, they can access a detailed view of the assessment, including submission status, teacher evaluation and more.
Additionally, acronyms (e.g., SA for Summative assessments, FA for Formative assessments) are displayed alongside each assessment title. These acronyms make it easier for students and families to quickly identify the type of assessment being reviewed.
💡Please note that the evaluations for each assessment will show here only once the teacher has shared them with the student and family members.
By default, the first subject from the subject list, such as English A: Language and Literature, is pre-selected and shown across all gradebook tabs. However, students and family members can easily switch to a different subject using the filter icon highlighted below. It’ll list all subjects the student is enrolled in and they can select any one from the list.
Furthermore, there are additional filters for Evaluation criteria for learning goals and assessment type selection.
IB grades: For IB DP students, this tab offers a visual representation of the student’s IB grades across different assessments for the selected subject. The bar colours in the graph correspond to each task type. With distinct colours and acronyms next to each assessment title, it becomes seamless for students and families to differentiate between tasks.
Additionally, a calculated average of the IB grades is displayed for the selected grading period within the chosen subject, providing a comprehensive overview of student performance.
💡In the ‘IB Grades’ tab, the default view shows grades for a preselected subject, like English A: Language and Literature. To view IB grades for a different subject, students or family members can easily switch using the filter option as explained earlier. Furthermore, the grades for each assessment will show here only once the teacher has shared them with students and family members.
MYP Criteria: For IB MYP students, family members and students will see the ‘MYP criteria’ tab. This tab provides a visual representation of the student’s performance based on the 4 IB MYP Criteria for a specific subject. It includes evaluations from in-class assessments as well as ratings from progress reports. The bar colours in the performance graphs correspond to each task type, using distinct colours, allowing for a clearer understanding of how the student is progressing within each criterion.
💡Please note that the evaluations for each assessment will show here only once the teacher has shared them with the student and family members.
ATL skills: In this tab, students and family members can view the ratings assigned to the student for each ATL skill for the selected subject and grading period. Upon clicking on a rating, a detailed view opens, providing more information about the skill, including the description, the most recent evaluation, and the evaluation history. If multiple criteria were used to assess a learning goal, each will have its own tab, which can be easily accessed to view the corresponding evaluation.
More: This tab provides access to student’s performance on additional key learning goals, such as Assessment objectives, Subject standards, and Learner profile attributes (LPAs), specific to each grading period for the selected subject. These learning goals may vary depending on the curriculum the student is mapped to. Students and family members can click on ratings to get a detailed view.
💡 For MYP students, the More section includes tabs for the ‘Progress report overview’ and ‘Service learning outcomes’, providing insights into the student’s progress reports and service learning activities.
💡 For PYP students, students and family members will find a tab for ‘Concepts’ within the More section, offering further insights into the student’s understanding and progress in key conceptual areas.
That's all for now. We will continue to innovate and improve to make your Toddle experience better each day!
