Via email
Via class invite link
Via downloaded invites
Note: The feature to invite family members is available on the Toddle web platform only.
Invite family members via email
You can send email invites to the family members of your students, either individually or in bulk.
Bulk invitations
Use any of the following access points:
Click the Invite family members via email button at the top right of the Family members tab.
Click the three-dot menu at the top-right and select Invite family members via email.
Select the students whose family members you would like to invite and click the Invite family members via email button from the Actions menu.
In the bulk invite modal:
Click + Add next to the student’s name and enter the family member’s first name, middle name (optional), last name, and email address.
You can invite more than one family member per student using the + Add option.
Repeat for any additional students.
Click Invite family members at the bottom.
Select the preferred language for the invitation emails and confirm. The invitations will be sent to all family members added in the modal.
Once an invitation is sent, the status next to the family member will update to Invite sent. This changes to Connected once the family member accepts the invitation and joins Toddle.
Individual invitations
Via Class settings
Click the three-dot menu next to the student, then click Invite family via email.
Via student profile
Navigate to the student’s Overview tab and scroll to the Family information section. Click Invite family members to enter the family member’s details.
In the invite modal, fill in the family details, including their first name, middle name, last name, and email. If there are multiple family members to invite for this student, you can include them by using the 'Add another family member' option.
Choose the preferred language for the invitation email and click Send invite.
Once the invite is sent, the status next to the family member will show Invite sent. This updates to Connected once the family member accepts the invitation.
Note: Invitation emails expire after 1 week. If a family member has not responded within this period, you will need to resend the invitation using the three-dot menu next to their name.
Sample invitation email
When you send the invitation, the family member receives an email with the subject line: You’re invited to join Toddle by [school name], and the sender is listed as [school name] via Toddle.
This is what an email may look like. Family members can click on Accept invite to join Toddle.
Invite family members via class invite link
The class invite link allows family members to request to connect to a student in your class without needing a direct email invitation. You can share this link using any of the following access points:
Click the dropdown arrow (▼) next to the Invite family members via email button and select Invite family via class invite link
Click the three-dot menu at the top right and select Invite family via class invite link
A modal will then appear with the invite link. Click Copy link and share it directly with family members.
Once a family member uses the link and selects their child’s name from a list, you will receive an approval request in the Family members tab.
You can approve or reject requests individually for each student or perform these actions in bulk using the action bar at the bottom.
Upon approval, they will receive a confirmation email letting them know their access has been approved. They can then sign in directly from that email to view their child’s learning on Toddle.
Note: Family members do not gain access to any student information until you approve their request.
Invite family members via downloaded invites
You can generate printable invite documents for your students individually or in bulk using the following access points:
Click the three-dot menu at the top-right and select Print family invites for all students (PDF)
Click the dropdown arrow next to the Invite family members via email button and select Download family invites for all students to generate documents for your entire class at once.
Select one or more students and select Print family invite (PDF) from the Actions menu to generate documents for the selected students
Click the three-dot menu next to a student in the Family members and select Print family invite (PDF) to generate a document for the selected student.
Before downloading, you can select the preferred language for the invite document.
Based on whether you download family invites in bulk or individually, the following will occur:
Bulk class invite download: An email will be sent to your registered email address with a link to download a ZIP file containing individual invite documents for all students in the class.
Selected students (one or more): The ZIP file will be downloaded directly to your device. If a large number of students are selected, you will instead receive an email with the download link.
Each document contains the student’s name, a unique family invite text code, and a scannable QR code, along with step-by-step instructions for joining Toddle. You can share this with family members either via email or as a printed physical copy.
Family members can then connect to their child’s dashboard by entering the text code manually or scanning the QR code in the Toddle app.
Manage family members
The Family members tab gives you a real-time view of invitation and connection status across your class. Each family member will show one of the following statuses:
Connected: the family member has accepted the invitation and is successfully linked to the student.
Invite sent: an invitation has been sent, but the family member has not yet accepted it.
Approval requested: A family member has requested access via the class invite link
Not invited: No invitation has been sent for this student yet.
From the three-dot menu next to any family member in the list, you can:
Resend invite: If an invite has already been sent but the family member hasn’t connected yet, you can resend the family invite email.
Edit family information: If a family member is already connected, this option allows you to edit their details (first and last name).
Reset family invite code: Resets the sign-in code for the student’s family member, requiring them to sign in with a new code.
Remove family member: If the student has connected family members, you can remove them using this option. They will no longer have access to the student’s information on Toddle.
Additionally, you can download a list of students who have no family members added from the three-dot menu at the top right of the page. This is a quick way to identify which students still need family invitations.
