Navigating to pending tasks
via Homepage
On your homepage, you will see the ‘Assignments and deadlines’ card. Clicking on the card will take you to a dashboard showing all your tasks across classes, organized into three tabs:
To-do - Tasks that are upcoming, overdue, or have no due date
Not submitted - Tasks that are now closed and weren’t submitted
Done - Tasks you’ve submitted
You can also filter them out based on classes and the task type.
via Assignments
From your homepage, click on the class for which you want to view tasks. Once inside the class, go to the Assignments tab at the bottom of the screen to see all tasks for that class.
Tasks are organized into two tabs:
To-do: Tasks that are open for submission
Done – Tasks you’ve completed or that are now closed
You can check the submission status for each task. If a task is closed, you won’t be able to submit your work.
via Notifications
You can view all assignment-related updates under the ‘Assignments’ tab in the notification panel (click the bell icon). You’ll receive notifications when a task is assigned, graded, or closed for submission. Additionally, a reminder notification will be sent one day before the submission deadline. These notifications let you open the task directly from your homepage with a single click. You will also receive an email notification for assignment related updates, helping to ensure that all tasks are completed and submitted on time.
Task submission
When you open an assignment, you will see four distinct tabs at the bottom of the screen:
Instructions – View all assignment details, resources, and assessment tools
Your response – Write responses, upload work, and complete self-evaluation
Messages – Access private messages with teachers
Class discussion – View and participate in class-wide discussions related to the assignment
Instructions tab
This tab provides all the essential assignment information in one place. This includes:
Assignment details such as title, status, due date and time
Instruction content, including descriptions, resources, and audio notes
Assessment tools like scores, comments, rubrics, or checklists (if added)
Learning goals, if your teacher has linked any to the task
💡 If an assignment is scheduled for a future date, only the instruction tab will be visible until it is published.
Your response tab
This section is where you add your work and complete any self-evaluation.
You can submit your response in several ways:
Write a response directly in the text box at the top.
Use the submission template (if provided by your teacher):
Click the ‘Add’ button to open and edit the template within Toddle.
Use the three-dot menu to download the template, download your work (if already added), or reset the template if needed.Upload your work in different formats:
Add files, images, or links from your device, Google Drive, or OneDrive.
You can also capture photos/videos or create new Google/Microsoft docs directly in Toddle.
Once you have added your response, tap on ‘Mark as done’ to submit it.
After submission, you will see an ‘Unsubmit’ button that allows you to make changes to the submitted work. However, the assignment enters a read-only mode after the teacher either closes the submission or shares their evaluation. When the submission is closed, you can no longer make edits, and the status changes to ‘Submission closed’.
After marking the assignment as done, you will be able to view your response. From this screen, you can also add your work as a portfolio post. Refer to this article to learn more.
You can also access Class discussion and Messages through two separate tabs located in the bottom navigation of the assignment screen.
Messages – For private, one-on-one communication with teachers and keeping a track of all actions taken on the task
Class discussion – For class-wide announcements or collaborative conversations related to the assignment
Self-evaluation
If your teacher has enabled self-evaluation for the task, you can complete it using the tools they’ve added, such as a rubric, single-point rubric, or checklist.
On the Instructions tab, these tools will appear in the Assessment tool(s) section.
On the Your response tab, you’ll also see the same tools listed. Click Add next to each tool to complete your evaluation
💡 Self-evaluation is not available for score-based assessments or final remarks/comments, as these can only be added by your teacher
View teacher evaluation
Once your teacher has evaluated and shared your work, you can view their feedback by going to the ‘Done’ tab under Assignments. Click on the task to open it and view the detailed evaluation
On the landing page, you will see the following:
The Instructions tab displays all key details about the task, including the assignment status, submission date, and evaluation progress. Once the task is submitted, you’ll be able to see if student and teacher evaluations have been completed.
In the Your response tab, you’ll see a summary of all evaluation tools used for the task, such as Score, Rubric, Checklist, and Rating on learning goals. Tap on any tool to view a detailed breakdown of feedback and evaluation.
For tools like rubrics and checklists, both student and teacher evaluations (if enabled) will be shown. Your selections are marked with a black tick, and your teacher’s selections are shown with a blue dot.
