How can I submit assignments and view teacher evaluation on the web as a student?

Updated today

Toddle provides an intuitive workflow for a student to track the tasks assigned to them, submit their response and view the assessment done by the teacher.

This article will give you a detailed walkthrough of the following-

  • Task submission

  • Self-evaluation

  • View teacher evaluation

Navigating to pending tasks

via Homepage

On the homepage, you will see the ‘Assignments and deadlines’ widget with a list of assignments you need to work on from all your classes. This list is divided into three tabs - Upcoming tasks, Overdue tasks and the tasks which have no due date.

Clicking on ‘View all’ will take you to a full page view of your pending tasks.

via Assignments

From your homepage, click on the class for which you want to view tasks. Once inside the class, go to the Assignments section from the left menu to see all tasks for that class.

Tasks are organized into two tabs:

  • To-do: Tasks that are open for submission

  • Done: Tasks you’ve completed or that are now closed

You can check the submission status for each task. If a task is closed, you won’t be able to submit your work. Additionally, a badge on a task indicates a message or update from your teacher.

via Notifications

You can view all assignment-related updates under the ‘Assignments’ tab in the notification panel (click the bell icon). You’ll receive notifications when a task is assigned, graded, or closed for submission. Additionally, a reminder notification will be sent one day before the submission deadline. These notifications let you open the task directly from your homepage with a single click.

You will also receive an email notification for assignment-related updates, helping to ensure that all tasks are completed and submitted on time.

Task submission

When you open an assignment, you will see a two-column layout on the landing page. Instructions on the left and Your response on the right, making it easier to view guidance and complete responses side by side.

The left panel: Instruction

The left panel on the assignment page provides all the essential information in one place. This includes:

  • Assignment details such as title, status, due date and time

  • Instruction content, including descriptions, resources, and audio notes

  • Assessment tools like scores, comments, rubrics, or checklists (if added)

  • Learning goals, if your teacher has linked any to the task

💡 If an assignment is scheduled for a future date, only the instruction panel will be visible until it is published.

The right panel: Your response

This section is where you add your work and complete any self-evaluation.

You can submit your response in several ways:

  • Write a response directly in the text box at the top.

  • Use the submission template (if provided by your teacher):
Click the ‘Add’ button to open and edit the template within Toddle.
Use the three-dot menu to download the template, download your work (if already added), or reset the template if needed.

  • Upload your work in different formats:
Add files, images, or links from your device, Google Drive, or OneDrive.
You can also capture photos/videos or create new Google/Microsoft docs directly in Toddle.

Once you have added your response, click on ‘Mark as done’ to submit it.

After submission, you will see an ‘Unsubmit’ button that allows you to make changes to the submitted work. However, the assignment enters a read-only mode after the teacher either closes the submission or shares their evaluation. When the submission is closed, you can no longer make edits, and the status changes to ‘Submission closed’.

After marking the assignment as done, you will be able to view your response. From this screen, you can also add your work as a portfolio post. Refer to this article to learn more.

You will also see separate tabs for ‘Class discussion’ and ‘Messages’ located in the top-right corner of the assignment screen.

Using the 'Messaging' tab, you can have a one-on-one chat with your teachers. They will receive an in-app notification immediately when you send them a message, and you’ll be notified when they reply. In addition to the in-app notification, an email notification will be sent to both sides if the message remains unread for more than five minutes. Furthermore, you can keep track of important actions from this window, like when a task was assigned or graded.

If your teacher has enabled class discussion, you will see a ‘Class discussion’ tab where you can join in on conversations with your classmates about assignments or class topics.

Self-evaluation

If your teacher has enabled self-evaluation for the task, you can complete it using the tools they’ve added, such as a rubric, single-point rubric, or checklist.

  • On the left panel, these tools will appear in the Assessment tool(s) section.

  • On the right panel (under Your response), you’ll also see the same tools listed. Click Add next to each tool to complete your evaluation.

💡Self-evaluation is not available for score-based assessments or final remarks/comments, as these can only be added by your teacher.

View teacher evaluation

Once your teacher has evaluated and shared your work, you can view their feedback by going to the ‘Done’ tab under Assignments.

If the evaluation is complete, you’ll see the status as Evaluated, along with the evaluation date. Click on the task to open it and view the detailed evaluation.

On the landing page, you will see the following:

  • The left panel displays all key details upfront, including the assignment status, submission date, and evaluation status. You can view the scores given by the teacher(if enabled). For assessment tools like rubric or checklist, both teacher and self-evaluation (if enabled) will appear here, where the black tick mark represents your evaluation, while the blue one represents your teacher’s evaluation for that particular task.

  • The right panel shows your submitted response and provides separate access to each evaluation tool, such as Rubric, Checklist, and Rating on learning goals. You can click on each tool to view detailed feedback from your teacher.

If you see N/A under Student evaluation and Teacher evaluation, it means that no evaluation has been configured for that task. In such cases, you won’t see a score or evaluation for any of the added assessment tools.
