Create and manage excusal requests on web
Create an excusal request
From your homepage, navigate to the ‘Attendance’ card.
💡Please note that you will be able to view the ‘Attendance’ card only if the setting is enabled by your school administrator.
Once inside, navigate to the ‘Excusals’ tab from the left pane. Here, you can view all previously requested excusals, if any. To submit a new request, click the ‘Request an excusal’ button.
💡Please note that you will be able to request an excusal only if the setting is enabled by your school administrator.
On the excusal request window, select the type of excusal you want to request - single day, multiple days, or partial day - by choosing the corresponding option under ‘Duration type’.
- For a single day, select the specific date for the excusal.
- For multiple days, provide the start and end dates.
- For a partial day, select the date and specify the class periods to be excused.
Next, fill in the reason for the excusal, and upload any relevant attachments to support your request. Once satisfied, click ‘Send’ to share the excusal with the school administrator and your child’s homeroom advisor. They will receive a notification about the same.
💡If your school uses day-wise attendance, you will not see the option to request excusals for a ‘Partial day’.
Manage an excusal request
After submitting the excusal request, it will appear under the ‘Excusals’ tab for your reference. You can perform the following actions here:
- Click the ‘mail’ icon to exchange messages with the school administrator or your child’s homeroom advisor regarding the excusal.
- Use the 3-dots menu to modify or delete the excusal.
💡Your ability to modify excusal requests depends on the settings configured by the school. You may be allowed to make changes to all excusals, or only to current and future ones. Additionally, the school may permit modifications either only before attendance is marked or even after attendance has been recorded.
Please note that excusal requests created by the school administrator or homeroom advisor cannot be edited or deleted.
When you click on the ‘mail’ icon next to an excusal, a side panel will open, displaying key details such as the requested excusal date(s), timestamp, reason, attachments, and any exchanged messages with the administrator or your child’s homeroom adviser. If attendance has been marked for an excusal, the attendance status will also be visible in this window, as highlighted below.
