Overview of class portfolio for family members

The student portfolio on Toddle offers family members a clear view of their child’s classroom experiences and progress over time. You can explore posts your child has created or been tagged in, view attached media, and interact through likes and comments. You can also access your child’s portfolio across classes and academic years, and download it for offline viewing when enabled by your school. Read this article to learn more!

Student portfolio on Toddle family app

To access the portfolio through the Toddle Family app, select your child's class and tap on 'Portfolio' from the bottom menu. You will be able to scroll through the portfolio feed and take a quick look at all the posts where your child is tagged.

You can browse through and preview all the post attachments and view them without having to navigate to another screen.

If the post includes your child's submission for a class assignment, simply click on the assignment name included in the post title to preview its details.

To delve deeper into a post, simply click on it. The expanded view will provide various details, including the tagged folder and associated learning goals. Additionally, you can browse the likes and comments on these posts.

Use the heart icon to 'like' a post and add comments with the speech bubble to engage with these posts. Toddle also offers an audio comment feature using the microphone.

To obtain a copy of the attached media file, simply tap the media card or post and click the download icon. All media attachments added to a portfolio post are available for download on both web and app, with the exception of workbooks, which can only be downloaded through the web platform.

💡You will be able to view tagged learning goals, like and comment on the posts, and download media only when the corresponding settings are enabled by your school administrator/coordinator.

Furthermore, you can easily find specific posts related to your child using the search icon on top. Here you can type in specific keywords and any relevant posts descriptions with those keywords will appear on your screen. Additionally, it extends to posts created using ‘Note,’ allowing you to search by text entered in the ‘Note’ for relevant posts.

You can use the filter icon at the top to refine posts by folder, date, or both. Tap on the filter icon to access the ‘Folder’ and ‘Date’ filters:

Folder filter
This lets you filter posts by specific folders. You can choose ‘All folders’ to view all posts or select a particular folder to see posts tagged under it. Use the search icon within the filter window to find a specific folder quickly.

💡Please note that posts can be searched within only one folder at a time.

Date filter
This enables you to view posts from a specific week, month, or term. Set your desired start and end dates on the calendar, and the selected range will be highlighted.

Tap the ‘View x posts’ option to apply the filter and see the results.

If you want to start over or remove any applied filters, tap on the ‘Reset’ option at the top to clear your selections and return to the default view, which displays all posts.

Student portfolio on Toddle web platform

To access the student portfolio on the web, select your child's class from the homepage and click on the 'Portfolio' tab in the menu on the left.

Once you enter ‘Portfolio’, you will be able to scroll through the portfolio feed and quickly see all the posts where your child is mentioned. Here you can also make use of the search and filter options to find any specific posts.

You can search for posts using the search bar by typing specific keywords. Any posts with descriptions containing those keywords will appear on your screen. This includes posts created with the ‘Note’ feature, allowing you to search for relevant posts based on the text entered in the ‘Note.’

To find posts within a specific timeframe, use the ‘Date range’ filter located next to the search bar. Select your desired start and end dates to view posts from that period. To clear the selected dates and return to the default view, tap the ‘Reset’ option.

And, if you wish to browse posts that have been tagged to specific folders, do so using the folder filter at the top.

You can conveniently browse and preview all the attachments within a post without switching screens.

Access and download portfolio posts

You can view your child’s portfolio across classes and academic years, and download it to keep a local copy if enabled by the admin.

💡This feature is available only on the Toddle web platform.

Accessing portfolio posts

To view your child’s portfolio posts across all classes and academic years, click on the ‘Student profile’ card on your homepage.

On the landing page of your child’s profile, click on the 'Portfolio' tab. By default, portfolio posts from all classes that your child is associated with, are displayed here. However, you can use the class list on the left panel to select a specific class and view only the posts from that class.

The posts displayed here are the ones that your child has created or where they have been tagged. These posts are shown in a card-style grid, making it easy to browse through multiple entries at once. Each card displays the post description, any attached media, and options to like or comment.

You can:

  • Open a post to view its full content, including media attachments.

  • Download any attached media files directly from the post.

  • Like or comment on the post.

When viewing a post in detail, you can also see additional information such as the tagged learning elements, units, learning goals, and folders associated with it.

By default, you’ll see posts from the current academic year, but you can use the academic year filter located in the top right to view posts from previous years.

In the pop-up, select the preferred academic year from the drop-down. By default, it picks the start and end dates of the selected academic year, but you can also choose a custom date range to filter posts as per your needs.

Once you click ‘View posts’, all matching portfolio posts will instantly appear.

If you’re viewing portfolio posts for a specific class, you’ll see the ‘Folder’ filter next to the academic year filter. This allows you to narrow down posts to a particular folder, making it easier to find the exact posts you’re looking for.

💡 The folder filter is only available when a single class is selected. It won’t appear when viewing posts across all classes.

Downloading portfolio posts

If enabled by the school administrator, you can also download your child’s portfolio posts to your device. To download portfolio posts, click the three-dot menu in the top right corner of your child’s profile page and choose ‘Download portfolio’.

💡Please note that the download will only include the posts where your child is individually tagged; group posts are excluded to maintain privacy.

Once you click on the ‘Download portfolio’ option, a pop-up will appear prompting you to select one or more academic years to download your child’s portfolios.

Once done, click on ‘Request download’. A download link will be sent to your registered Toddle email ID once it is ready. Note that the download time may vary based on the volume of portfolio data.

The email will contain your child’s portfolio for the selected academic years. Simply click the 'Download' button in the email you've received to save the portfolio zip file to your device.

In the zip file, your child’s portfolio media files are organized first by class and then further sorted into month-wise folders within each class. Additionally, an ‘index.html’ file is included, which opens in your web browser to display a consolidated view of your child’s portfolio.

This view organizes their posts by class, with filters to sort by date or search specific posts, as shown below. You can scroll through the posts or click on individual media files to view them in detail.

💡 The posts you will see in the downloaded portfolio will only include those where your child is individually tagged; group posts are excluded to maintain privacy.
