Overview of MYP Community project Gradebook

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Toddle offers a dedicated Gradebook for MYP Community project (CP), providing a centralized hub for educators to track and update student progress on CP, record student hours, and manage their grades. Coordinators can use this gradebook to access and edit the CP data of all students in the selected batch, while supervisors can view and edit data only for the students they supervise.

Explore this article to learn more about the CP Gradebook.

Navigating to CP Gradebook

To begin, navigate to the Community project Gradebook from:

Curriculum(MYP) homepage → Community project module → Preferred year group → Gradebook

Within the Gradebook, you can view the CP criteria-wise score and comments, total score, overall supervisor comments, and student hours spent for each student in the selected batch. Additionally, you can track and update the current status and overall progress of each community project. Let’s explore this in detail.

💡Depending on the settings configured in the ‘Setup’ section, you will either see individual assessments for students within a group or a combined assessment for the entire group. In both cases, the status and overall progress are tracked at the community project level.

Adding grades and feedback

You can update all key grading components directly in the grid view:

  • CP scores: Double-click into a criterion cell and select the appropriate level.

  • Student hours: Type in the total number of hours into the relevant cell.

  • Criteria-wise and overall comments: Double-click the comment icon to type in the feedback.

  • Completion status: Use the dropdown to mark a project as ‘In progress’ or ‘Completed’.

  • Overall progress: Select from dropdown options like ‘On track’, ‘Exceeding expectations’, or ‘Not quite there’. The values you see in the dropdown are based on the configuration done by your school administrator.

Viewing or editing student records in detail

You can also choose to access a more focused, student-specific view for reviewing individual records. To do so, click on the arrow icon within a student’s cell, as highlighted below.

This opens a side panel displaying the same Gradebook components for individual students in one place. This panel is particularly helpful when you want to focus on one student at a time and make edits for them.

Use the up/down arrows in the top-right corner, or navigate using the keyboard arrow keys, to move between students and update any fields. Any changes made in this window will instantly reflect in both the main Gradebook view and individual student projects.

Key features

To help you manage student projects more efficiently, the CP Gradebook offers several handy tools designed to simplify navigation, locate specific records, and make edits with ease. Let’s take a look at each of these features below:

Keyboard-first navigation

When managing a large number of student projects, keyboard-first navigation can help you work quickly and avoid repetitive clicks. Here are some handy ways to navigate and input data within the Gradebook:

  • Navigate using arrow keys: Use the arrow keys on your keyboard (up, down, left, right) to move between different student and column cells.

  • Select dropdown values: For all dropdown-based fields - such as scores - press ‘Enter’ (or ‘Return’ on Mac) on a cell to open the dropdown menu and use the arrow keys to navigate and select the appropriate value. Alternatively, you can type the intended value directly into the cell, provided it corresponds to one of the pre-defined options.

  • Add comments: For criteria-specific or overall comments, pressing ‘Enter’ (or ‘Return’ on Mac) will bring up the comment window so you can type feedback without needing to click. Once done, press Enter again to save it.

  • Apply bulk updates via copy-paste or drag handle: Use Ctrl + C (or Cmd + C for Mac) to copy a value and Ctrl + V (or Cmd + V) to paste it across cells for quick bulk updates. Alternatively, select a cell and drag the fill handle (bottom-right corner of the cell) to copy the value across cells.

  • Undo recent changes: Use Ctrl + Z (or Cmd + Z on Mac) to undo recent changes instantly.
