How can I track my child’s progress in MYP projects as a family member?

As a family member, you can actively view your child's progress on MYP projects through Toddle, and become an important part of their learning journey. You can easily track their overall progress, submission deadlines, supervisor feedback, and much more!

Personal project

The Personal project is a passion project taken up by MYP students - a culminating experience that allows them to showcase what they have learnt throughout their MYP curriculum.

To check your child's personal project progress, click the 'Personal project' card on your homepage. This will take you to a summary page with key information including the project title, supervisor's name and overall status. You'll also see a list of deadlines set by the coordinator and their completion status.

By clicking on the ‘Guidance’ tab, you will find resources that will help you gain more information about the Personal project and its importance in the MYP curriculum.

Clicking on the personal project card on the progress dashboard will take you to its detailed view, each representing a particular aspect of the Personal project. Let’s explore them further.

Personal project components

  • Title and learning goals

    Here, you will find the title for your child’s personal project, why they selected this topic, and view learning goals that will help your child maintain focus throughout.

    You'll find helpful icons next to each prompt in the personal project sections. Click the bulb icon for a brief description and requirements of the prompt. Use the dialogue icon to read comments from both your child and their supervisor on each prompt or response. These icons are accessible throughout the personal project sections for your convenience.

  • Product goals

    In the 'Product goals' section, you will find a brief description of the intended outcome of your child’s project and the criteria for measuring its success.

  • Project plan

    Under ‘Project plan’, you can view the project timeline your child has set for themselves, with intermediate milestones and deadlines.

  • Process journal

    The ‘Process journal’ is where you can view your child’s whole journey of working on their personal project. It will include primary and secondary research, a record of reflections and feedback, evidence from brainstorming sessions, supervisor’s comments/suggestions, etc.

  • Personal project report

    Personal project report is the culmination of your child’s personal project journey that summarises their experiences and the skills used or developed throughout the process. This report will be submitted to the IB. Additionally, your child would also be submitting a bibliography and an optional multimedia recording. You can view and save these files by clicking on the download button.

  • Academic honesty

    Students use this space to capture the important points discussed during the meetings with their supervisor and also to record their learning throughout the personal project journey. The meeting notes added here are used to generated the Academic Honesty form as required by the IB.

  • Assessment

    Here, you can find the scores given by the supervisor based on their observation of your child’s progress. You can find details of each evaluation and also the predicted score for your child’s personal project. Please note that this feature is visible only if enabled by the school admin.

Community project

The Community project dashboard is where you will see an overview of your child’s community project progress. To reach here, click on the ‘Community project’ card located under ‘Projects’ on your homepage.

The landing page provides a concise overview of your child's community project. It displays the project title and supervisor's name, along with the overall progress and status as assessed by the supervisor. Additionally, the page lists deadlines set by the Community project coordinator and their completion status.

Community project components

  • Title

    Here, you will be able to find the title of your child’s community project, and the community they have identified for their community project.

  • Learning goals and global context

    This page includes the project's purpose, the global context guiding their research, and an outline of their action plan. These details show how your child aims to achieve their project's goal and make a difference in the community.

  • Project plan

    Under the ‘Project plan’ section, you can view your child’s community project timeline with intermediate milestones and deadlines.

  • Process journal

    The ‘Process journal’ is where your child will document the entire journey of their community project. This will include primary and secondary research, a record of reflections and feedback, evidence from brainstorming sessions, etc.

  • Reflection

    The ‘Reflection’ section is where your child can reflect upon the knowledge that they have acquired throughout the community project.

  • Project presentation

    The community project presentation marks the culmination of your child’s journey with the project, summarizing their experiences and highlighting the skills they utilized or developed throughout the process.

    You can view and download your child’s presentation by clicking on the download button.

  • Academic honesty

    The ‘Academic honesty’ section is where your child will document the 3 compulsory meetings that they are supposed to have with their supervisor as per IB requirements. These details will reflect on the academic honesty form when downloaded by the supervisor.

  • Assessment

    Here, you can find the scores given by the supervisor based on their observation of your child’s and their group’s progress. You can find details of each evaluation. The project is assessed on 4 criteria - Investigating, Planning, Taking Action and Reflecting.

Service as action

On the landing page of ‘Service as action’, the dashboard provides an overview of all service activities where your child is involved. Here, you can see information such as the activity status, title, collaborators, mapped supervisors, and dates for the activity.

Clicking on any service activity on the dashboard will take you to a detailed view of the activity. Let’s explore this further.

    Under the ‘Title and basics’ section, you will be able to view title for your child’s service activity, the cover image, and location.

These icons are accessible throughout the service as action components on Toddle for your convenience.

  • Learning goals and outcomes

    This is where your child will tag one or more learning outcomes that they wish to achieve through their involvement in the activity.

  • Reflections

    Reflection is an essential part of your child’s service activity. It's an ongoing process where your child will be encouraged to reflect upon the knowledge that they have acquired during the course of their service activity.

  • Evidence

    Under Evidences section, you can view the entire journey of your child’s service activity. This could include their planning documents, interactions with the community members, highlights of the conducted activities, photos/videos etc.

  • Final supervisor comment

    The last section is the ‘Final supervisor comment’ section where you can view the supervisor’s feedback or concluding remarks on your child’s activity.
