Introducing primary subject teacher mapping
Updated over 3 months ago

We are excited to introduce a new feature that lets you tag educators as primary subject teachers for each subject directly from your Class settings. This new mapping will automatically reflect these teacher names in progress reports, saving you the time and effort of manually adding teachers to each subject. Let’s explore this feature in detail.

💡Please note that this article uses the IB MYP curriculum as an example, but the feature works the same way across all curriculums, with a slight variation for the PYP curriculum, which is explained later in this article.

Navigating to Class settings

From the homepage of your preferred curriculum, select the relevant class to enter.

Inside the class, go to the left-hand collapsible menu and select the ‘Class settings’ tab under the ‘Settings’ option at the bottom.

Mapping educators as primary subject teachers

Once you’re on the ‘Class settings’ page, go to the ‘Staff members’ tab. Here you will find all the staff members mapped to this class. Go ahead and assign staff members as 'Primary subject teachers.' Simply check the boxes next to the names of the teacher(s) you wish to assign as primary subject teacher(s). This tagging will automatically display their names in the progress reports for the relevant subjects. If you wish to change this selection in the future, simply select or deselect the teacher(s) to update your choices.

💡Please note that educators can tag themselves or others as primary subject teachers for their own classes. Additionally, keep in mind that assigning teachers as primary subject teachers will not affect existing progress reports, regardless of whether they are locked or unlocked.

Mapping educators as primary subject teachers in the PYP curriculum and other Progressive curricula

The mapping process varies slightly for the PYP curriculum and other Progressive curricula. Since the classes in these curricula often cover multiple subjects, you need to first map the teacher to a specific subject before selecting them as a primary subject teacher. To do this, click on the pencil icon next to the teacher’s name in the ‘Primary subject teacher’ column.

In the modal that pops up, select the subject you would like to map this teacher to. This will ensure that the teacher’s name will show by default for the selected subjects in the progress report. Once you’ve selected the relevant subjects, click on ‘Next.’

Within this modal, you can select additional teachers if you want to tag them to the same subject. The teacher whose name you clicked on using the pencil icon will be selected by default but you also have the option to deselect them if needed. Once you’ve made your selection, click on ‘Save.’

You can easily change your selection at any time by clicking on the pencil icon.

Impact on Progress reports

The names of educators assigned as primary subject teachers will automatically appear by default in any new progress reports you generate. You’ll still have the option to edit the teacher mapping directly within the progress report. Simply click on the ‘gear icon’ to easily add or remove teachers, just as you could before.

💡Please note that any changes made using the gear icon in the progress report will not affect the primary subject teacher mapping set in the ‘Class settings’.

That's all for now. We will continue to innovate and improve to make your Toddle experience better each day!
