How can I adjust timezone settings in Toddle to match my current location?

We are thrilled to introduce a new feature that helps you manage your Toddle experience while working across different timezones. With the new timezone settings, you can choose to keep using Toddle in your primary timezone or adjust it to match your current location making it easier to keep track of timetable, class schedules, calendar events, and much more. Let’s dive into the details of this feature!

Introducing timezone settings

You can now easily check the primary timezone set for your Toddle platform. Simply click on your profile icon in the top-right corner of your homepage and select the ‘Language and timezone’ option from the pop-up menu.

If you access the Toddle platform from a timezone different from your school’s primary timezone, it will affect how timings appear in several areas across the platform. This includes, but is not limited to, the calendar, timetable, emails, assessments, announcements, notifications, and messaging.

For this article, let’s use the ‘Weekly planner’ as an example to explore how adjusting the timezone changes the timing displayed across the platform.

Viewing schedules in the weekly planner

Begin by entering a class and selecting ‘Weekly planners’ from the left-hand collapsible menu. Simply open any existing planner to see the scheduled lessons, displayed in the platform’s set time zone.

For instance, if your platform’s time zone is set to IST, a class scheduled from 8 AM to 9 AM on Monday will appear in IST time.

Updating platform timezone to current timezone

Imagine you have travelled to a different location and want the lesson times on Toddle to match your current location, you can easily update the platform time zone. You have two ways to do this.

Option 1: Logout and login again

You can log out and then log back into your Toddle account. When you log into your Toddle account from a different timezone, a pop-up will alert you that your current time zone doesn’t match your platform’s time zone. Here, you can choose to:

  • Update to current time zone: Adjust Toddle to match your current location.

  • Keep platform time zone: Continue using Toddle in your usual time zone.

Say, you choose the ‘Update time zone’ option to update platform timezone to match your current timezone.

After updating the timezone, your lesson times will adjust automatically, and the platform will show the updated timings. For instance, if the timezone changes from Asia/Calcutta to Europe/Rome, an 8:00 AM IST class will now appear as scheduled from 4:30 to 5:30 AM CET, reflecting the 3.5-hour time difference between these two timezones.

Option 2: Manually adjust timezone settings

To manually adjust your time zone, click on your profile icon in the top-right corner of your homepage. In the pop-up menu, select ‘Language and timezone’

In the modal that pops up, you can update your timezone by choosing the appropriate option from the dropdown menu. Click ‘Save’ to save your preferences. And the timings on the Toddle platform will get updated as per your chosen timezone.
