You can now create recurring events in the Toddle calendar. This helps you schedule daily meetings, weekly assemblies, monthly staff catch-ups, or any other repeating school activity, saving you from manually adding the same event multiple times. You can also edit or delete individual or multiple events in the series as needed.
Note: You can create and manage recurring events based on the permissions set by your school.
Create a recurring event
1. Go to Calendar →’+Create’ and select ‘Event’ from the dropdown.
2. Add the event details such as title, event type, date and time (or mark All day).
3. Select the ‘Repeat event’ checkbox to open repeat options. You can choose from multiple repeat patterns:
Note: The option to create recurring events is not available for Holidays or Vacations. You can only create these as single events.
Every school day – The event automatically skips non-operational days.
Weekly or every two weeks – Select one or more weekdays for the event to repeat.
Monthly – Repeat on a specific date (for example, the 9th) or on a specific weekday (for example, the second Thursday of the month).
Note: The repeat options adjust automatically based on the day you create the event.
Tip: When setting up monthly events, you can also choose to skip non-operational days so the event only occurs on school working days. However, when you choose a weekday-based pattern (for example, “Every 2nd Thursday of the month”), this option won’t appear.
Custom – Set your own pattern, such as “every 3 days” or “after 5 occurrences.” By default, the event will repeat until the end of the current academic year, but you can change this to:
End on a specific date (within the same academic year), or
Stop after a set number of occurrences. If the selected pattern goes beyond the current academic year, you’ll see an alert indicating that those occurrences will not be scheduled.
Note: If you pick a date that doesn’t exist in some months (like the 31st), the event will automatically skip those months.
4. Once all the other details are filled in, click ‘Create event’. Once saved, your event will appear in the calendar for all the selected dates.
Edit or delete a recurring event
When you edit or delete a recurring event, you’ll be asked how you want the change to apply. You can choose from these options:
This event only: Changes only the selected occurrence.
This and all future events: Changes the selected event and all upcoming ones in the series.
All events: Changes every event in the series, including past ones.
Note: The All events option only appears if your edit keeps the same pattern (for example, changing the time). If you move one event to a different date that breaks the pattern, this option won’t be available.
Emails, notifications, and weekly summary
Weekly summary now lists all multi-day and recurring events that fall within the selected week’s date range, showing clear start and end times for each occurrence.
In-app notifications show the repeat pattern (for example, Repeats monthly on 9th; ends after 2 occurrences).
Invitation/update emails now include a Repeats section (e.g., Repeats weekly on Tue, Thu until 20 Dec 2025).
When you make changes to a recurring event:
Emails show Updated next to the changed fields (including the Repeat section if it changes).
If you delete a recurring event, emails clearly mention whether you removed one event, this and all future events, or all events.
That is all for now. We will continue to innovate and improve to make your Toddle experience better each day!
FAQs
Q: Why don’t I see the ‘Skip non-operational days’ option for my weekly event?
In weekly mode, you already choose the exact weekdays your event should repeat on. The option is only available for daily and monthly events.
For monthly events, it doesn’t appear for weekday-based patterns (like “Every 2nd Thursday”) since these already occur on fixed weekdays within school days.
Q: What happens if I select a date like the 31st for a monthly event?
The event will simply skip months that don’t have that date (for example, February or April) and continue in months that do.
Q: Can I make my event repeat beyond the current academic year?
No, recurring events can only extend until the end of the current academic year. If your chosen date or number of occurrences goes beyond that, you’ll see a small alert letting you know those extra occurrences won’t be scheduled.
Q: Why don’t I see ‘Repeat event’ option for Holidays or Vacations?
Recurrence isn’t available for Holiday or Vacation tags. You can create those as single events instead.
Q: What happens if I delete one event from a recurring series?
Deleting one event removes just that occurrence. The rest of the series stays as is.
