EE proposal

To begin your extended essay journey, the first step is to create a proposal for your EE. Here, you can provide essential details such as the chosen subject, response language, topic, title, and research question for your EE.

For certain subjects, you may need to provide additional information, including:

  • Category: Required for Group 1 and 2 subjects, excluding Classical Languages and Literature and Performance subjects.

  • Additional subject and theme: Required for World Studies EE

To have a one-on-one conversation with your supervisor about any EE element, simply click on the comment icon located above the respective field. if you notice a red badge next to any section in the left pane, it indicates that the teacher has left a comment for you in that section. Additionally, a red dot on the comment icon will tell you the exact field where the comment has been added. This behavior applies to tracking comments in other sections as well.

Once your supervisor is satisfied with your proposal, they can change the project status to ‘Approved’. You will receive a notification about the same under the bell icon on your homepage.

EE plan of action

Next is the ‘Plan of action’ section. Stay organized by utilizing the plan of action section to create a work plan for your EE. Ensure that the deadlines you set align with those set by your coordinator/supervisor, which are visible on your EE landing page.

Just like the Proposal page, you can use the chat icon to initiate a conversation with your supervisor.

Reflection notes

The ‘Researcher’s Reflection Space (RRS)’ is where you can record reflections throughout your research process to improve your work. This space also allows you to prepare for reflection sessions with your supervisor. You can document your reflections using various formats such as notes, photos, videos, and links. If you wish to make any changes, use the three dot-menu to edit or delete. Your supervisor can view these reflections and provide comments on each one.

Essay submission

Under the ‘Essay’ section, you can submit both your draft and final essay for your supervisor's review. You can easily identify if your supervisor has provided feedback by looking for a red dot next to the annotated file and a notification badge on the left pane. These indicators will help you stay updated on your supervisor's comments and suggestions.

If your school administrator has enabled Turnitin check for extended essays, your submitted file will be subjected to an automatic plagiarism check, and you will be able to view the similarity index for each of your submissions.

Additionally, if the setting is enabled by your school administrator, your submitted files will be automatically locked within 15 minutes of upload. You will not be able to make any changes to the locked file unless your supervisor unlocks it for you.

RPPF

The 'RPPF' section is specifically designed for you to document the three mandatory reflection sessions that you need to have with your supervisor as per the IB requirements. In this section, you can record the date and your notes for each session. Toddle provides a word count indication under each reflection to help you stay within the combined limit of 500 words for all reflections.

If auto-locking is enabled by your admin, the reflections will be automatically locked within 15 minutes of upload. You will not be able to make any changes to the locked reflection unless your supervisor unlocks it for you. When the entire form has been completed, your supervisor can download it from Toddle for submission to the IB.

EE completion

Once you have submitted the final essay and the RPPF has been completed, your supervisor can mark the EE as complete. An automatic notification will be sent to you and the latest status will reflect on your dashboard.

It's important to note that once the EE is marked as complete, you will no longer be able to make any changes to any of the sections within the extended essay, unless your supervisor changes the EE status.

In the pop-up window that opens up, add your request and click on the 'Raise a request' button.

Group 5627 (2).jpg

Once you raise a review request, your supervisor will be promptly notified, and your request will appear under the 'Pending' tab of their Review log pane. You can engage in a conversation with your supervisor regarding the request by using the chat icon.

Whenever your supervisor provides input or feedback, you will see numbered badges on both the review log icon and the relevant tab in the Review log pane. You will also receive a notification for the same under the bell icon on your home page. If you need to make any changes to your comments, you can use the three-dot menu to edit or delete them.

Once the review request is addressed by your supervisor, either you or your supervisor can mark it as resolved using the tick mark option. This action triggers a notification for the other party, and the request will be moved to the 'Resolved' tab. If you need to revisit a previously reviewed request, you can mark it as 'Unresolved' from the 'Resolved' tab, shifting it back to the 'Pending' tab for further attention.
