Overview of CP Reflective project for a student
Updated over 9 months ago

Reflective project (RP) is one of the core components of the IB Career-related Programme (CP). It is an in-depth body of work focusing on an ethical dilemma associated with an issue from your career-related study.

As a student, you can effectively manage your Reflective project(RP) on Toddle, while adhering to the IB guidelines. This includes submitting your project proposal to your supervisor and seeking their feedback, logging reflections to showcase your growth throughout the reflective project journey, documenting the three mandatory RPPF reflections, submitting draft and final essay files, and keeping track of the deadlines set by your coordinator.

This article will cover:

  • Reflective project dashboard

  • Proposal submission

  • Plan of action

  • Reflection notes, essay submission and RPPF

  • Reflective project completion

Reflective project dashboard

To begin tracking your Reflective project (RP) on Toddle, navigate to your homepage and locate the 'Reflective project' card under the 'Core' section.

💡 Please note that the Reflective project card will appear on your homepage only if the coordinator has invited you to the reflective project module on Toddle.

You will land on your reflective project dashboard page. At the top, you will see your reflective project research question once you have identified it. If a supervisor is already assigned to you, their name will appear on this page. Additionally, as you progress in your reflective project journey, you will see your overall progress as assessed by your supervisor, the number of completed reflections for RPPF, the date and time of the last edits and a list of reflective project deadlines set by your coordinator along with their status.

The ‘Guidance’ tab, located at the top of the page, serves as a repository for all the reflective project learning materials shared by the coordinator as well as the resources provided by Toddle.

Once you click on the reflective project card on your dashboard, you will land on the Proposal page of your reflective project. Using the left pane, you can easily navigate to and work on different aspects of your project. We will explore each of these sections further in this article.

Proposal

To begin your reflective project journey, the first step is to create a proposal and submit it to your supervisor for approval. Use the Proposal section on Toddle to document the issue you are addressing in your essay, the research question and other important details.

To have a direct conversation with your supervisor or request feedback on any section of your proposal, simply click on the comment icon above the relevant field. This will open a chat window where you can converse with your supervisor.

If you see a red badge next to a section in the left pane, it means that your teacher has left a comment for you or made some edits in that particular section. Additionally, a red dot on the comment icon will indicate the specific field where the comment has been added. This applies to tracking comments in other sections too.

Once your supervisor is satisfied with your proposal, they can change the project status to ‘Approved’. You will receive a notification about the same under the bell icon on your homepage.

Plan of action

The 'Plan of action' section is designed to help you stay organized throughout your Reflective Project (RP). Here, you can outline tasks, milestones, and timelines to guide your progress. To mark the completion of a task, you can use the tick mark option in that row.

It's important to align your deadlines with the overall deadlines established by your coordinator, which you can see on your reflective project landing page.

Just like the Proposal page, you can use the chat icon to initiate a conversation with your supervisor.

Reflection notes

In the 'Reflection notes (RRS)', you can record your daily thoughts and updates on your reflective project. This space is designed to help you prepare for meetings with your supervisor and decide what to include in the RPPF. You have the flexibility to document your reflections using various formats, such as notes, documents, photos, videos, and links. If you need to make any changes, simply use the three-dot menu to edit or delete.

Your supervisor will be able to view your reflections and provide comments on each one. Furthermore, you can engage in a conversation by commenting on your posts using the comment icon.

Essay submission

In the 'Essay' section, you have the option to submit both your draft and final essay for your supervisor's review. For draft submissions, you can quickly see if your supervisor has provided feedback by checking for a red dot next to the submitted file and a notification badge on the left pane. These indicators will keep you informed about your supervisor's comments and suggestions. It's important to note that your supervisor can only give feedback on your draft submissions.

If you are submitting additional formats such as a film, oral presentation, interview, play, or display, you can conveniently add them under the 'Additional Format' section.

💡Please note that while you can make multiple submissions for draft files, you can only submit one final file for both the essay and additional format submissions.

In case, your school administrator has enabled Turnitin check for the submissions, your submitted file will be subjected to an automatic plagiarism check, and you will be able to view the similarity index for your submissions.

Additionally, if the setting is enabled by your school administrator, your draft and final submission files will be automatically locked within 15 minutes of upload. You will not be able to make any changes to the locked file unless your supervisor unlocks it for you.

RPPF

The RPPF section allows you to reflect on the challenges faced, share how you plan to overcome them or how you already overcame them, and discuss the lessons learned and changes in approach.

In this section, you can record your three reflections mandated by the IB. Toddle provides a word count indication under each reflection to help you stay within the combined limit of 1000 words for all reflections.

If auto-locking is enabled by your admin, the reflections will be automatically locked within 15 minutes of upload. You will not be able to make any changes to the locked reflection unless your supervisor unlocks it for you. When the entire form has been completed, your supervisor can download it from Toddle for submission to the IB.

Review workflow

While working on your reflective project, you have the option to request a review from your supervisor whenever you need feedback or guidance. To do this, click on the 'Request review' button at the top right corner. In the pop-up window, enter your request and click 'Raise a request' to submit it.

Group 5788 (2).jpg

Once you raise a review request, it will appear under your supervisor's 'Pending' tab in the Review log pane, with a notification promptly sent to them. Use the chat icon to engage in a conversation with your supervisor regarding the request.

When your supervisor provides input or feedback, you will see numbered badges on both the review log icon and the relevant tab in the Review log pane. Additionally, a notification will be received under the bell icon on your home page. Edit or delete your comments using the three-dot menu if needed.

Once your supervisor addresses the review request, it can be marked as resolved by either party using the tick mark option. This triggers a notification, and the request will be moved to the 'Resolved' tab. To revisit a previously reviewed request, mark it as 'Unresolved' from the 'Resolved' tab, shifting it back to the 'Pending' tab.

Reflective project Completion

Once you have submitted the final essay and the RPPF has been completed, your supervisor can mark the project as complete. An automatic notification will be sent to you and the latest status will reflect on your dashboard.

It's important to note that once the reflective project is marked as complete, you will no longer be able to make any changes to any of the sections within the project unless your supervisor changes the project status.
