Viewing your SL portfolio

To begin documenting your Service Learning (SL) activities on Toddle, navigate to your homepage and locate the 'Service Learning' card under the 'Core' section.

💡 Please note that the SL card will appear on your homepage only if the coordinator has invited you to the SL module on Toddle.

Clicking on the 'Service Learning' card will redirect you to the SL landing page, where you can access an overview of your SL portfolio. Here, you will find a list of the experiences or projects added to your SL portfolio, the learning outcomes they have been tagged to, the duration of each project or experience, and your overall progress. If you wish to create a new SL experience or project, simply click on the 'Create new' button located at the top of the table.

If there are any new SL experiences or projects added or edits made to existing ones by your adviser/supervisor, a badge will be displayed next to it for easy identification on the dashboard.

Moreover, on the SL landing page, you will come across separate cards for 'Interests and goals', 'Evidences and reflections', 'Feedback', and 'Interview'. These cards serve distinct purposes in the SL documentation process and will be discussed in detail later in this article.

Furthermore, by tagging specific learning outcomes to a piece of evidence or reflection, you can showcase the successful completion of those outcomes in your Service Learning (SL) portfolio.

Your supervisor can review and comment on each reflection or evidence that you add, and you will receive a notification about their feedback under the bell icon on your homepage.

Evidences and reflections for the learning outcomes

In the 'Evidences and reflections' section of your SL portfolio, you can monitor your progress towards the 5 learning outcomes (LO) of the SL program.

Each LO displays a compilation of evidence from your associated SL experiences/projects. Once you have presented enough evidence for an LO and your adviser marks it as achieved, a green tick will be displayed next to the LO. Additionally, you will receive a notification confirming the accomplishment.

SL Feedback

In this section, you can view feedback from your SL adviser or coordinator regarding your overall engagement in the Service Learning (SL) program.

SL Interviews

According to IB guidelines, a minimum of three interviews between students and their Service Learning (SL) coordinator/adviser is required throughout the SL program. These interviews should take place at least twice in the first year of the CP and once in the second year.

In the 'Interviews' section of your SL portfolio, if enabled by your school administrator, you will be able to see the SL interview comments logged by your adviser/coordinator for the 3 formal interviews.

Group 5794 (1).jpg

Depending on the settings, you can use the ‘Add’ button to upload interview recordings or document the important points discussed during the interview. Once the interviews are completed, they will be locked automatically after 15 minutes of your submission if the respective setting is enabled by your admin.

Review workflow

While working on your SL project/experience, you have the option to request a review from your supervisor whenever you need feedback or guidance. To do this, click on the 'Request review' button at the top right corner. In the pop-up window, enter your request and click 'Raise a request' to submit it.

Group 5687 (4).jpg

Once you raise a review request, a notification is promptly sent to your supervisor. They will be able to access your review request from their portal. You and your supervisor can use the chat icon within the review log pane to engage in a conversation regarding the request. Any comment sent by your supervisor will trigger a notification at your end and will add a badge on the review log pane. Additionally, you can edit or delete your comments using the three-dot menu if needed.

Once your supervisor addresses the review request, it can be marked as resolved by either party using the tick mark option. This triggers a notification, and the request will be moved to the 'Resolved' tab. To revisit a previously reviewed request, mark it as 'Unresolved' from the 'Resolved' tab, shifting it back to the 'Pending' tab.

SL Completion

Once you have completed all the necessary SL requirements, including 5 learning outcomes, and 3 formal interviews, your adviser can mark the status of your SL portfolio as complete. You will receive a notification about the same.
