How to navigate Toddle on the web as a family member?

Welcome to Toddle! We’re thrilled to have you on board. In this article, we will guide you through the many useful features available on the Toddle web platform, that will help you stay connected with you child’s learning journey at school. Let’s get started!

Navigating Toddle

As you open the Toddle webpage, you will find the option to login as a family member. If you are a first time user, refer to this article to create a new account for yourself.

If your account is already created, click on the ‘Family account’ option as highlighted above. You will be asked to sign in using your registered email id.

Once you have successfully logged in, you will land on the Home page just like the one shown below.

💡The cards you see on your homepage may vary depending on the configurations done by the school admin.

Accessing Notifications

Let’s start with the top right corner. See the bell icon? Click on it to access your notifications. These will help you keep in touch with your child’s learning activities. You will be able to view all the notifications you have received as a family member. If you have more than one child on Toddle, notifications for all of them are consolidated under this tab.

The gear icon highlighted in the above screen takes you to ‘Notifications settings page’. Here you can set your notification preferences by selecting where and when you want to be notified.

Profile Settings

Right next to the notifications icon, you'll find an icon with your initials. Click on your name to see a range of options here. Let’s understand each of them.

  1. ‘Notification settings’ will redirect you to the page we explored above, and will help you manage your notifications according to your preferences.

  2. The ‘My Profile’ tab, is a centralized location to view all your children who you are connected with on Toddle. You can use the 3-dots menu to disconnect a child. Alternatively, click on the ‘Add child’ button to link another child to your profile on Toddle. Refer this article for more details on the ‘My Profile’ page.

  3. Use the ‘Language’ switcher under your profile to change the platform language. You can choose from one of the six languages supported.

Dashboard

Now let's explore the main dashboard section filled with helpful cards:

  1. Child switcher

    On the left, you will see your child’s name. The information displayed on the dashboard corresponds to the child currently shown at the top. If you have more than one child connected on Toddle, use the child switcher to navigate to another child’s dashboard. You can also add a new child by clicking the ‘+’ icon. Additionally, to view your child’s data from a previous academic year, select the relevant academic year from the same switcher. Read more about adding another child to your profile here.

  2. Tasks and Deadlines

    This card shows all the tasks and assignments your child needs to work on. Upcoming tasks, past due items, and assignments without due dates, will all be listed here. Tap the ‘View all’ option to get a more detailed view .

  3. Announcements

    Click on the ‘Announcements’ card to view all the latest news and updates shared by the school about events, holidays, etc.

    On the landing page, you will be able to view all the announcements on the left side of your page. Click on any one announcement to get more details on the same. You can also search for specific announcements by using the search bar at the top right. For more details, please refer to this article.

  4. Calendar

    Never miss an event! This card will show the full year's calendar including holidays, parent-teacher conferences and other important school-wide events shared by the school admin.

    You can use the left/right arrows on the top to navigate between months, to gain information on all the happenings in your child’s school.

  5. Messaging

    As a family member, you can converse with your child’s teachers by clicking on the ‘Messaging’ card on your homepage. You can use this feature to actively participate in conversations initiated by teachers, as well as initiate chats with teachers from your end.

    On the landing page, you will find a list of all the teachers you have conversed with earlier. By selecting a teacher, the chat thread will open on the right side, allowing you to access all the messages and attachments exchanged with that particular teacher. Additionally, use the ‘+’ button at the top to initiate a new conversation.
    You can send text, voice messages, attachments, and more. Refer to this detailed article to learn more.

  6. Progress reports

    Access your child's latest academic reports and evaluations shared by the school here. You can view and download PDF copies. To learn more about accessing and tracking your child’s progress reports, refer to this article.

  7. School policies and resources

    Important policy documents and official resources from the school will be housed in this section for your reference.

  8. Progress summary

    This is where you can get an overview of your child’s academic performance across all grading periods. You can view assessment-wise scores and also get a glimpse at your child’s performance in the various learning goals assessed by their teacher.

  9. Timetable

    Get the daily class schedule for your child at a glance through this timetable card. You can also download the weekly schedule planned by the school.

  10. Attendance

    Here you can keep track of your child's overall attendance. To learn more about viewing and managing your child’s attendance, refer to this article.

    The button on top-right allows you to easily request excusals for upcoming or past dates. Refer to this article to learn everything about excusals.

  11. Student Profile

    The student profile in Toddle provides you with a comprehensive overview of your child’s academics. It is constantly updated throughout the academic year through evidence collection, progress reports, attendance records, and other means.

    Once you click on the card, you will find the overview of your child’s academic information, along with multiple tabs that will enable you to access your child’s portfolio, progress summary, goals, attendance records and timetable, all in one place.

Classes

Finally, as you scroll down on the home page, you will get detailed insights of your child’s individual classes by clicking on any one of the classes your child is enrolled in.

This is how the class landing page will look like. By clicking on the class icon on the left panel, you can easily switch between the various classes that your child is enrolled in. Through this panel, you can also access various tiles such as Unit planning, Class stream, etc., to get insights into your child’s learning journey. Come, let’s explore these.

  • Unit planning

    By clicking on the ‘Unit planning’ tab, you can view the various units your child’s teacher has planned for them. This section will be of help if you're curious about what your child will be learning, covering upcoming lessons.

    By clicking on any of the units, you can access the unit plan that your educator has prepared for the students.

  • Weekly planner

    The ‘Weekly Planner’ will give you a sneak peek into your child’s schedule and the different learning experiences your child is participating in for the weeks ahead.

  • Class stream

    This section has details of the various tasks assigned to your child. You can easily navigate between the tasks to be done, scheduled tasks and those that are already completed.

  • Class portfolio

    The ‘Portfolio’ feature offers a glimpse into your child’s classroom experiences, allowing family members to explore their child's portfolio entries and interact through these posts through likes and comments.

    This article will help you gain more information about this feature.

  • Class files

    This tab would contain all the learning resources shared with the students. You can view and download these resources for your reference. You can also search for a particular file or folder using the search bar right at the top.

For MYP Curriculum - Projects

If your child is enrolled in the MYP Curriculum, there are some additional features that will be available for you on the Toddle homepage. Here is a brief introduction to all of these. You can refer to this article for more details.

Personal project

The Personal Project is a passion project taken up by MYP students - a culminating experience that allows them to showcase what they have learnt throughout their MYP curriculum.

Community project

The Community project is like a hands-on experience helps students develop important skills such as research, critical thinking, and project management. It also encourages them to become more aware of their community and their potential to make positive changes. To view more details about your child’s community project, click on the ‘Community project’ card located under Projects on your homepage.

Service as action

Through Service as Action, students apply their learning to address genuine needs, developing a sense of social responsibility and personal growth. This component shows students how their studies relate to the world, shaping them into caring individuals who strive to make a difference locally and globally.

For DP Students - DP Core

If your child is enrolled in the DP Curriculum, there are some additional features that will be available for you on the Toddle homepage. Let’s explore all of these.

💡 Please note that the these cards will appear on your homepage only if your school administrator has enabled these modules on Toddle.

Extended Essay

The Extended Essay is a core component of the IBDP curriculum, and offers students the opportunity to independently research a topic of their interest within one of the subjects they are studying. This extended research project allows students to delve deep into a subject they are passionate about, developing critical thinking, research, and writing skills essential for success in higher education and beyond. For a more detailed view of your child’s extended essay progress, click on the ‘Extended Essay’ card located under DP Core on your homepage.

Theory of Knowledge - Essay

The TOK Essay prompts students to think deeply about how we know things and explore different ways of knowing, like reason and emotion. Students choose from IB-provided topics to analyze and evaluate knowledge questions across various subjects like science, history, and the arts. This essay encourages critical thinking and helps students understand the complexities of knowledge in different contexts.

The TOK essay dashboard is where you will see an overview of your child’s TOK essay progress. To reach here, click on ‘Theory of Knowledge - Essay’ (under DP Core) on your homepage.

Theory of Knowledge - Exhibition

The TOK Exhibition is a special part of the IBDP curriculum. It challenges students to creatively explore ideas about knowledge through presentations and exhibits. Here, students engage with real-world issues and show how knowledge is shaped and understood across different subjects and ways of thinking. To get an overview of your child’s progress, click on ‘Theory of Knowledge - Exhibition’ (under DP Core) on your homepage.

Collaborative sciences project

The Collaborative sciences project in the DP curriculum is an interdisciplinary learning engagement where students from the sciences subject group collaborate on a scientific or technological investigation for a given topic. To view you child’s progress in the CSP, click on ‘Collaborative sciences project’ on your Dashboard.
